Default - Woodfast Junior Bandsaw badges needed -

Hey guys, this is my first post in this forum.

So a month or 2 ago i came in possession of a woodfast junior bandsaw. The bandsaw was in rough shape cosmetically but after the crud and 7 layers of lead based paint where stripped away the little guy was in very good condition parts wise but it was missing the 2 badges on the front cover, which i need to finish this little gem off.

Did replace all bearings though as a standard thing to do, turned up a brass belt tensioner knob and ditched the steel one, i had to turn up a new pully shaft from 1045 cause the old one was cooked and replaced the bandsaw tyres with 'ultra blue' urethane units.

I decided to paint it the original color which was a goldish hammer tone and was going to leave the wheels bare but decided at the last minute to paint then hammer tone gun metal grey.

Replaced the old 1 phase motor with a 3 phase 1hp unit with a variable frequency drive and turned up a new 120mm pulley for the 19mm motor shaft. I then fabricated a tensioning motor mount from 20 x 20 square tube and mounted it on the bottom tray of the new hare and forbes stand.

So decided that the blade guide's on this little saw where poop and it needed custom bearing guides... so i machined some up.

Body of the guide is T6 (6061) aluminum, all hardware is custom machined from 316 stainless.

Its so much quieter and the cuts feel a heap smoother.

    Hi John
that looks to be a pretty substantial blade for such a little band saw.
do you have any issues tensioning it?

    great restoration

    Hi John
I also have one of these little beauties. You have done an amazing job of restoring your machine. I haven't got mine going yet as it needs new tires. Where did you get yours from? I am hoping that everything else is ok. Sorry I can't help you out with the badges though.

Looks great, I can send you a picture of the badges, then you may be able to get something printed up. Be careful with the 3hp motor considering the original motor for a jnr was a 1/4 hp with an option for a 1/2 hp, I believe.

Yeah a picture of the badges would be tops. The 1hp motor is great, i put a bi-metal 14tpi blade on this bad boy and it cuts great.

Bought these from the states from carter products, they are ultra blue 10" dia, 7/8" wide. Had them sent to my US post box then to Aus.

Which length blade did you end up with I’m having trouble finding the 66.5 inch ( 1689mm) ones.

So im using a 1638 x 13mm or 64-1/2" x 1/2" bi-metal blade. This is the perfect size for this little guy.
