Question 240v Single Phase wiring diagram for switch to power on dust extractor/ saw start

    Hi,
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for a switch system which will power on my dust extractor at the same time as my table saw.
The dust extractor needs to remain powered for around 7 seconds after the saw shuts off.

Where does the 7 seconds come from?

The delay time should be variable as it depends on the cutting process (in your case table saw), the length of the size of the DC and size of the ducting, and effectiveness of the dust ports.

My testing has show that a 2HP DC using 100 mm ducting on a stock TS cabinet and 50 mm ducting on the OH guard simply doesn't collect enough fine dust during most processes so teh delay to clear the fine dust is in the region of 10's of minutes rather than seconds. In this type off circumstance its more sensible to actually leave the DC running until the next time you leave the shed.

Alternatively provide forced ventilation (eg bathroom type exhuast fans - yes fans and one will generally not be enough) which vent outside the workshop constantly clearing the shed of fine dust.

On my set up, 4HP DC with 150mm ducting I don't really need to use any delay but I do use a 2 minute delay.

As for the circuit diagram here is my setup
    semi-auto "Delayed off" switch
It uses a variable time capable Omron timer switch. These are quite expensive and I only used this because I managed to pick them up from the side of the road from an AC control panel that was being thrown out.

There are other ways of doing this.
