Default Budget 240 single phase to 380V 3P VFD

This was discussed in a thread over in the metal workers forum. It's a VFD that takes 220V Single Phase and converts it to 380V 3 Phase. This means no internal motor conversion is required. It does not mean it's plug and play and still requires the VFD to be hard wired to the motor with no switch gear in between the VFD and motor. These are not new and have been around for some time but they have usually been restricted to more expensive VFD brands and even then were typically 2x the price of standard 240V SP to 240V 3P VFD. These are also more expensive that their 240V SP/240 3P counterparts but at $120 that's way less than I would have expected. I have no idea how good they are. I might buy one to try it out?VFD1.5kW/2.2KW/ Variable Frequency Drive 3 Phase 380V output 1 phase 220V input Speed Controller Inverter Motor VFD Inverter|Inverters & Converters| - AliExpress

    Hi Bob,

    Digging up an old thread.

Just wondering, did you go ahead with one of the budget 220V 1P / 380V 3P VFD? Any feedback?

I've searched the MWF without much success.

    Cheers
    Salv

Nope I still haven't bought one but the feedback from the metal workers forum is that they still seem to be running fine - a few members have bought and are using them.

    there's a review on aliexpress:

very simple to set up and program, just took me a few minutes to learn how to program at first. would recommend to use for single to three phase 24 Apr 2021 04:25

    Additional Feedback
I bought 2 of these and 1 lasted 5 minutes before it caught fire, I have been asking for the parts to repair it but they have been very bad with warranty and sending the parts, not a good company to deal with, worked well before it caught fire
