when electronic controller goes and no more parts are available for router
Hi
Is there anything which can be done when the electronic card goes in a router and there are no more parts available for that machine? I have a Ryobi Re 601 model in mind.

Depends on what has gone wrong on the circuit that made it stop working.
If the circuit board is still ok with no burnt or broken traces and/or if the damage is only a failure of a discreet component, it can probably be repaired.

In a recent edition of "Silicon Chip" magazine there was a project for a "universal motor" (the type with brushes like in your router) that they claimed was very efficient with improvements to motor power output at reduced speeds. This is a box with a power socket that you plug your motor into and thus vary the speed. From memory it also provided a "soft-start" feature as well. If the board in your router has failed a competent electrician will be able to bypass the board so that the motor runs at full speed. Then you plug the router into the box for variable speed. If the router is fitted in a table then the external box will be an advantage rather than a hindrance.
