Default Hammer N4400 VFD/single phase conversion?

Now, I know the real answer to this is ‘we need a picture of the motor plate and inside the connection box’, and I also realise that hammer do these in 230V single phase flavour... But there’s a 2nd hand 3p Hammer N4400 bandsaw floating around, and I wondered if anyone knew off-hand if the motor is convertible to 1P?

I’ll have a chat to Felder about the cost of replacing the motor when I get a chance, but I suspect that’ll push the price up to ‘not worth while’

. Negative - he’d be selling his children into slavery if he took less than $1400... still too much for a 2nd hand saw that’s been on special for $1900 odd in my tight-arsed opinion! Hasn’t sold for over two months now, which says it all

For posterity, the cost of an official felder/hammer single phase motor for the N4400 bandsaw is $450 for the electronics, and $600 for the motor, both excluding VAT. Not worth going that route unless you find an absolute bargain 3P

Get the frame Number/type of the single phase motor and contact a motor supplier, it won't be unique to Felder and you may need a new switch/contactor. One of the forum members here might be able to do that for you.

I haven't been following this, but can't the 3Ph motor be run with a VFD, with all the variable speed/soft start/stop that comes with it, or is my thinking VFD? I can scuttle away again, if need be.

    All 415V 3_ motors can be run using a 3P 415V VFD

However, not all 415V 3P motors can be run at full power using a Sngle Phase 240V VFD. Some cannot be run at full power without a complete rewind. O☺️☺️☺️☺️thers can be converted. For some motors this involves just swapping a couple connectors in the motor/mains junction bit, for others internal surgery is required,.
