Hi Dave.
I was pretty sure the signature could be
Removed. I have only 100M data allowance on my phone. This has been fine for me, but I turn off pics unless there is something I really want to see. I mostly use the net function to pass time at work, so the pics don't really come in to it. Still not convinced I need tapatalk.
Cheers

There are pros and cons to both the tapatalk and browser approach. If I only had 100 megabytes of data on my plan, then I would be using tapatalk over a browser anyday. Most mobile apps are frugal compared to browsers.
It's a simple matter bounce back and forth between two anyway.

Ok. I will give the free version a go and see how it goes. I did read of an issue where parsing of links was not handled properly by tapatalk. Any one had any issues with this?

Sorry what do you mean parsing of links?

I think it meant when a link is activated, it did not return the correct page. When I read this I was at home on my computer so I cannot give a definite answer now. This info came from a forum on a site that had a program to fix the problem, from memory. It was open source so not a con job.

I think I recall instances of links not parsing but I've used several versions of tapatalk on several different devices. It might of been cases where links were buried deep within a paragraph. It doesn't seem to be an issue for me now. As I mentioned in my other post is a simple case to bounce back and forth from tapatalk and browser, so just switch to the browser to follow a link that doesn't work in tapatalk. Same goes for any marketplace threads.

I did a google search for "tapatalk". The site I was reading was xda-developers.com. This is where it was mentioned.

The only issue I have on tapatalk is the market place
Occasionally there has been a link that had had an issue but not common

Ok. Thanks for the help. I will install tapatalk, but I will have to wait until I am home. I don't have Google account details with me.

So:
*You can switch between Tapatalk and Browser with ease
*Tapatalk is data frugal
This being the case can Tapatalk beinstalled on a computer for the advantages of data frugality?

Tapatalk is intended for mobile devices where screen real estate is limited. It is a far cry from a full web experience.
But I think there is a Windows version being developed. It might for Win 8.x and touch screens. The android tablet version might work with android netbooks. Not sure about MacOS.
There are many web forum readers out there. The biggest benefit is aggregation of multiple forums/fora in one application. Not sure about their data usage.

Time was against me today due to the power going off and having to get sleep for 12hr night shift. I had a bit of a play on my tablet which I had already installed tapatalk on but not tried. It only has wifi. I need to learn a lot more. I have found it difficult so far.
I have the Google account details but the installation uses nearly 18% of monthly limit on my phone so I will try tomorrow at home.
The power outage was annoying because we have a planned outage all day tomorrow and another next week.

I am having a play with tapatalk finally.
" You can switch between Tapatalk and Browser with ease"
How?
If I select tapatalk to complete an action, always, how do I go back?
Can you turn off pictures in tapatalk?
I have not been able to log into the forum using tapatalk. Facebook or Twitter? Not going to happen! I have not been able to set up my email account yet.
I am now going to look for instructions to use it. I still have 6hrs before I knock off. I need something to do til then.

I worked out how to get to settings and disabled pictures and that stupid signature.
I am still not seeing a whole lot of benefit, but I will keep playing.
My search for help was interesting, but taught me nothing. It seems that tablet/smart phone apps don't have manuals at all. The kids today must be born with the inate knowledge to operate these.
When I started with Dos 5.0, it came with a big thick manual that explained everything.
