Tapatalk
I have been invited to join Tapatalk.
I have one basic question: Will this cost every time i use my mobile to access tapatalk?
Being a computer/mobile phone Luddite I am inclined not to bother as i really see little, if
any, advantage in going down this path!!

Generally most mobile phone plans include data usage.
I have never gone over my data accessing the site from my phone. About a year ago I had one bad bill for data but that was because I had used my phone to update something on the computer which had no internet.
Advantage ... you can keep tabs anywhere

Using Tapatalk itself is free ...... as far as I am aware downloading the Tapatalk application (program) is free or depending on your device can be purchased for less than $5.00.
As Dave has mentioned you will be charged by your mobile phone carrier for any data downloaded which is viewed through Tapatalk. Most plans do have a data allowance included in your monthly fees so provided you don't go over you will not have to pay any more. Accessing the forums isn't particularly data hungry but it is worth keeping an eye on your usage as mobile phone companies love it when they can charge you more.
You can also use Tapatalk to access the forums via your phone when it is connected to the internet through a wireless network. This uses the data allowance of your broadband plan so is the same as using your computer. Why would you want to do this? ..... sometimes it is just more convenient to look on the phone than to start up the computer. It is also possible to get free wifi when you are out if you are keen ..... including the cafe at Bunnings!
I find Tapatalk fine to use however it isn't as easy as looking at the site on your computer and is only really of any benefit if you are away from your computer.

Thanks fellas!
I basically use my mobile like a two way radio. Ana and I keep in touch with it when ever we need.
I don't use it as my primary phone and mostly the recharge runs out before I get to use it!!

Not knowing what plan you are on sounds to me you would most likely be able to use tapatalk without it affecting the rate at which you use your recharge

Artme - If you are spending $20 to $30 a month on recharge you might want to look at the longer life plans. There are 180 and 365 day recharge plans available from most carriers. The call costs might be higher but for limited use, the overall cost might be substantially lower. The data costs on Optus 180 day recharge used to be expensive for instance, so you might want to monitor your usage before switching. I know one advantage of the Telstra plans is that you can bill your Google Play account to the Telstra prepaid (presuming you don't have an iPhone).
I switched to longer duration and expiry prepaid plans 6+ years ago and reckon I've saved a bundle since.

I use Amaysim and haven't made a call or recharged for over 3 months. Mostly Ana gets to annoy me
so I couldn't be bothered recharging.
Sounds slack I know, but that is my attitude towards mobiles. I just don't have a perceived need for one. I own the thing under protest and sufferance!!
Ana wanted me to get an iphone as she has one. They are a brilliant little device, I will grant that!!. Just not interested.
maybe I'm nothing but a latter day trogladyte minus his cave!

At $40 per month you can have unlimited calls to land line and mobile in Australia and 5GB of data. Plenty of data for your average stuff unless you are watching heaps of youtube etc.
You cab do away with your home phone

Can't really do away with the home phone as mobile coverage here is non existent at worst and patchy at best.
Still, I see your point Dave.

...or Katoomba.
We get zero bars on Optus and only one bar on the Telstra simm at home. [grumble, grumble]
Mind you, it saves me a fortune in phones! ('Cos I'm one o' those blokes who always seem to end up plastering 'em into a wall cavity, or they're left in a water tank when we refill it or... )

Telstra is better than Optus just here but switching would ba a PITA.
My personal preference is for steam driven service. I understand that better than anything else!

I have been playing around with a Galaxy S2 for the last week or so. I bought it from my step daughter for $20. It needs a new ear piece speaker which is on the way from HK. I decided to look at what Tapatalk actually was, today and found this thread. A bit late, I know!
From what I have seen it enables you to have tabs which makes it easier to switch between pages. It costs money to buy the full version. Not much I know.
What else does it do, besides putting that stupid garbage message at the bottom of your posts? I can live with the way the phone browser works at the moment.
Regarding mobile coverage, people who live in the cities should realise that it is only a matter of turning off the highway and travelling a short distance down a country road before the service is lost. I live 28km by road from a very high comms tower. Carries all comms from this area (SE SA) The telstra signal comes from here. Direct distance is much less. I do not get signal. The 98% figure that is bandied about refers to people, not area. The actual area covered is vastly smaller. I have a huge problem with city people who expect me to answer their calls on my mobile, at home, when they have not been given the number, or the right to use it. Two weeks later they are blasting me for not answering.

G'day dean.
The signature can be changed as you can see in my case. It is much easier to view from the app. I have the pictures come up automatic on the app which it does not do on my browser. That to me is a plus.
It is also easier to post and to post pics from the app than from a browser.
That is my opinion. There are advantages to the browser sometimes too. I sir the app 99% of the time
