In your case though it is purely academic whether the reserve price is higher than the opening bid, you have already stated that your Mens' Shed cannot afford to pay the $400 opening bid.
So could we please rest this discussion as it surely distracts from the sellers' attempts to sell this item.
This is a for sale thread, not a soap box.
