Dovetailed Mini Coffin Smoother Kit
Two years ago I played around with making a Dovetailed Mini Coffin Smoother. As I am now turning my attention away from tools I am clearing them out.
I had the sides and sole laser cut from O1. I had four kits made for me, I made one smoother for myself. I partially finished one as a gift for a friend and I now have two kits that I have no need for.
The plane is 160 mm long 52 mm at its widest point and 53 mm high. It was designed to take a 4.5 mm thick blade.
This was my first attempt to make an infill and it was a bit part of my learning curve, I ended up needing to fill a few gtabs with a laser welder. It still needs more work, and all you would need to do is give it a clean and fill with some silver solder or drops from a tig welder. However for me it was never kosher so I am not inclined to finish it. The hard work of cutting out the pieces and get the material has been done for you. Also the peening is done all you will need to do is clean, fill any voids and add infill with the wood of your choice.
Below is a photo of the infill I made for a friend. It will give you an idea of what you can get from the kit.
I prefer to avoid paypal for the fees it imposes, PM me and I will give you the bank details. Postage or pick up from Coburg can be worked out .
