    Default Dust Extractor Cyclone Separator

I normally sell these on Ebay. I have just received a shipment and after sending out the pre-ordered ones there is only one left. I would rather sell it to a forumite for a reduced rate than have Ebay and Paypal make money out of us! This current shipment were $275 through Ebay, but $250 to forum members. Freight would be by Fastway couriers at cost. This is NOT an auction.

Happy to give freight quotes. Link to an old Ebay listing here for specifications and details - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Large-Cyc...e=STRK:MESE:IT

    Cheers,
    David

No interest at all? Don't even want a freight quote? This is the same item as in fubar's thread here - https://www.woodworkforums.com/archiv.../t-190017.html
I've even sold a few of these to schools through word of mouth.

    Cheers,
    David

Default No interest in ths size cyclone

    No interest at all?

Sorry mate, it is far too small for me, inlet too small ,outlet too small.

I need a cyclone with inlet of 2oo mm, outlet 250/300 mm that is capable of 2500 cubic feet / minute.( or metric equiv)

Read BobL's comments on your link to "furbars's" post.

    Cheers Barry

    Hi Barry,

I guess it's horses for courses. The majority of members here don't have DE's over 3HP, have access to three phase power, have the funds necessary to purchase a 5 to 8HP DE and even if they did have all those things wouldn't be able to/allowed to install a behemoth like that at their home based workshop. Many guys with 2HP DE's still only use 4" flex hose.

Yes, it is a given that even a properly designed, modern cyclone such as this will have a negative impact on the flow rate of a DE. But, even the best, modified 2HP DE is only going to achieve BobL's magic 1,000 cfm for a few minutes on many woodworking machines. After that first few minutes the flow rate will drop faster than the A$ in a GFC. So what do you do? Only 3 choices - Install a cyclone like this and achieve a reasonably consistent 650 - 700 cfm for an extended period, be prepared to clean your filter every 5 minutes (fat chance) or do nothing and continue to suffer the reduced flow rates imposed by clogging filters.

I have the greatest respect for BobL's knowledge and his willingness to share his expertise with forum members, I just don't think that he offers a viable alternative for the equipment used by many members. There it is, my opinion is different to his. I do know other woodworkers who share my opinion. Some may think that I'm totally wrong and I respect their right to have their own opinion.

    Cheers,
    David

At my current address I could easily run a 3hp system with the available power in my shed, but I am renting and will not be here for ever so I will not invest in a 3hp system when the next shed might not be as well powered as the current one. I will not argue with BobL's figures either but as aldav says, they are generally beyond the capacity of the average backyard workshop.

I already have my own home-made cyclone, so I am not interested in this product, but I spent more than the cost of this in building my own system.

    Cheers
