For Sale (not auction) is this Electronically variable Carbatec MC1100 lathe with a brand new 2hp motor (it is three phase but because of the VFD it runs on single phase) with a brand new VFD that allows the user to select the speed electronically. It has 7 preset speeds or can be adjusted with the up or down arrow on the display panel. The original adjustable pulley system has been replaced with 2 solid pulleys. The headstock can rotate to do outboard turning. It is a solid lathe and comes with the factory original cast iron legs and metal tray. Also included is the tailstock, a set of 8 Marples chisels and a 50mm Record chuck (without worm screw) and a drive and live centre.
Can be viewed, prodded, tested, tried and picked up from Glen Huntly, VIC. It also comes with a set of two removable homemade trolleys, one for each leg, to make moving it easy (in other words, there’s two plank trays with office chair wheels on them).
The asking price is $699 if you don’t ask questions, or $799 is you do. But realistically, this lathe would suit someone who is looking to transition to an electronic variable speed lathe without having to pay thousands of dollars. In fact, it is cheaper than a new NON-electronically variable MC1100, and much cheaper than the cheapest electronic variable lathe you can find new.
I’ll throw in a couple of red gum fence posts for free, if you want them – beautiful timber for peppermills, salt and pepper pots, small boxes, chisel handles (you can view mine), pendants, armbands, pens and other smaller diameter objects, approx 80 x 80mm and more than a metre in length. Pm me here, or just reply to this post if you are interested.
Thanks
Chris
