    Is that a bit of sapwood on the end of the blackwood block, Tas? Can you give us a photo of the side facing down if so? Wondering if I can use it as a feature in some box making boards or if I'd have to cut it off.

    Hi. That little bit of sapwood is very shallow 1 - 5mm. The side facing down is very similar to the side facing up. The intense figuring goes right through it is just more apparent on the most quarter sawn like faces, thats how fiddleback rolls.
