To everyone, item has just been SOLD
will update auction thingy to note that bandsaw has been sold (give me a while to do the technical thingy)
I have just taken deposit, and purchaser is coming back later this afternoon to finalise everything
Price was a little less that asking price (but not massively less)
I know that if I worked at it, I could have got a higher price,,, but such is life. I am a fraction short of money at moment so was willing to go lower than I otherwise would.

My apologies to John that phoned yesterday, you said you were going to come around yesterday afternoon, you did not turn up, thats the way it goes. (I waited two hours).

The surface rust on the cast iron baseplate came off very easily with just 5 minutes of light sandpaper work, so that was pretty good
Some of the bolts had a little bit of rust on them (not a lot), with a little sandpaper, some oil, and stored in a proper garage they will be fine

In the end I was not using the bandsaw, for ripping timber I use a home made tablesaw.
The purchaser has got a good 14 inch bandsaw for just under half price they are new.
I got some money, (pay some bills)
I got some stuff out of my garage. (this is good)

In the end, equipment is only good if you have a need for it. I use my drills, handheld planer, electric screwdriver, jigsaw, tablesaw a lot, however I never found much of a use for the bandsaw.

Price sold was a bit more than those absolute rubbish bandsaws you buy new from Bunnings.
I think if your a professional, then the 2000 dollar bandsaws make sense,,, for other people buying a second hand 14inch seems a reasonable way to go. There is a big difference between a 2000 dollar bandsaw and a 300-350 dollar bandsaw (please dont say $1700). The more expensive one is better, but it costs more
I got four expressions of interest in two days since I put the add up, so think asking price was pretty fair. (yeah I could have got a bit more if I negotiated harder)
