Lump of Queensland Maple - Bowl blank
This is a lump of Qld Maple. I'd call it a burl because thats what it looks like but burl on maple is very uncommon and it's probably a healed over branch stub.
Either way though it's sure to be very figured inside. The log this came off was the best single Qld Maple I've ever put through a sawmill so I'd expect this to be pretty good.
Dimensions are 600mm long, 300 wide and 320 high, and it weighs 16.5 kg. Based on weight it would appear to have no internal decay as it seems quite heavy for a piece of maple this size.
Bark was left intact to slow drying and end sealer was applied to the cut face. There are no cracks visible.
I've left it as a lump because as it stands it could be used many ways. I'm seeing a turned vase or deep bowl, but you could equally as well slice it or cut it into pieces suitable for knife handles, pens blanks etc.
Given the weight I'd suggest either Busfreight depot to depot or E-GO for this. If using E-go I'm happy enought to deliver to the Cairns depot at my convenience, if you prefer it to travel Greyhound I'll load it ex Mission Beach 4852 which is their nearest frieght depot to me.
Packaging and delivery to either depot is included in the price.
Not an auction... say you want it and it's yours
