Default Marking gauges - matched pairs

I decided to use up some nice bits & pieces I’ve had kicking about for years, before something nasty happened to them. I hope they have eye appeal, but they are working tools & are meant to be used. These ‘standard’ gauges have stocks that are approximately 66 x 55mm x 30mm thick, with beams that are 16mm square and 200mm long. Pins & cutters are made from hardened bright steel. They are secured in the brass end-caps by a small grub screw, which makes it easy & simple to adjust the height, or remove them for sharpening. There are 3 matched pairs of ‘standard’ pin & cutting gauges, each with a bonus scribing knife.

Lot 1. Fiddleback Weeping Myall (Acacia pendula):
The stocks have a fine, even fiddleback figure – a lovely deep coloured wood, which polishes very nicely, as you’d expect from a dense Acacia. $125 including marking knife.

Lot 2. ‘Ebonised’ River Oak (Allocasaurina cunninghamii):
The River oaks round here often have black heartwood, which rarely dries without cracking badly, but the wood from this tree remained sound. Like all the casaurinas, it has a fine ‘oak’ grain, & polishes very nicely. $125 including marking knife

    Lot 3: Olive (Olea europaea):
I think the wood speaks for itself – fine-grained and slightly oily – very easily polished. It makes very attractive & very tactile tools. $125 including marking knife.

Nope Dale - there won't be any more gauges from me for a very long time. I've used most of the wood I had, that's suitable for gauges. When that saw plate gets here, I have a few 'orders" to fill (if my customers haven't gotten fed-up waiting & gone elsewhere!), and a string of domestic jobs longer than my arm, so it could be a very very long time before I make any more!

    Cheers,
