    Default Two rainforest oaks

    Two oak blocks, 85 x 85 x 350 each.

Oak block 1: Northern Silky /Bull Oak / Cardwellia sublimis. Nice enough block of wood, clean, air seasoned at least three years and maybe more.

Oak block 2: Red Satin Silky/ Caledonian Oak / Carnavonia araliifolia. Again a nice enough block of wood, a pinhole borer hole on the back face but fear not... I drowned the little bugger with H2 clear... Nothing that won't turn out anyway. Moisture meters not here and I don't know that this piece went through the kiln but the log had been down years and I sawed it mid last year - call it three parts seasoned, it's a very slow drying species.

An interesting pair lined up side by side, enough similarity to be a pair, enough difference to make them distinct.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

You won't be disappointed Faulko, as I have the other bit of that Caledonian Oak, and it is stunning. One of my long time favorites, bloody hard to find.
