Sheoak 2x1 1m3 , pick up in Bunbury, B and C grade
Hi,
i have decided to get rid of some sheoak timber.
I've got approximately 1 cubic mtr of sheoak planks, size is approximately 50mm x 25mm (2x1 inch) but do vary throughout the lot, length ranges from .5mtr to 2.5mtr. Timber is old and is roughly dressed, skip dressed on sides. B to C grade, so needs some TLC, but it has beautiful grain once cleaned up.
Please see pictures for some clarification.
Pick up in Bunbury!
Please send me an email if interested.
Cheers,
Tyne

Are We
Are we bidding on the whole cubic meter?
I need a small amount and was planning a trip to Bunbury soonish to buy a little (for a couple jewellery boxes) from your Gumtree add, but don't need the whole cubic meter.... yet...
If anyone else is interested - maybe a group buy for the W.A. guys?...
If I had dry storage room, I'd be tempted to buy it and hang onto it for other small projects in future.... but space is at a real premium right now.
There must be a zillion pen turning blanks in that stack (Not that i turn pen blanks) but maybe others do.... I could always dress it square and dock to suitable pen blank lengths I guess.
possibilities possibilities... parquetry blocks?.

Thanks for the reply timeless timber. Ideally I am looking for someone to take the lot. The pack, as you mentioned, has endless potential, unfortunately I don't have the time with two little kids and a third on the way. I need the space, hence the cheap price.
Thanks Tyne

Space
Space to store it (dry) for me is the issue right at the moment - I guess I could rob a bank to pay for it & I have the time and ability to use it...
I will see what I can do... I need some she oak either way...
Let me work something out & I'll get back to you.
Cheers.

I don't know
I don't know about the reserve being too high...
Back when I milled, dried, and sold she-oak to the boat building industry, up in Geraldton, I charged around $2700/m3 at the start and $3500/m3 at the end.
$450 bucks seems cheap to me for near on a cube, albeit smaller & lower grade pieces.
That said....
It's not "pay day" for me until Thursday next week - so no bid from me in the next hour, before the auction closes.
I still need she-oak for a jewellery box project for my daughter for Xmas tho - so at some point, I will have to source some (and probably end up paying thru the nose for it when I do) .
Maybe that's where this auction system might NOT get the best result for the seller - it doesn't know when "pay day" (pension fortnight?) is (and thus when "potential buyers" will have access to "disposable income").
If I did buy it - I'd likely just use the balance to make my BPense Cyclone.... which truthfully would be a waste of good material, but it would damn look crash hot!.

Not so sure about this, if I drop it any lower I might as well use it as firewood..... Not that I would, cause that would be sacrilege.
Any way item has not sold. So anyone interested is welcome to come and have a look, but I won't be giving it away below the reserve.
timeless timber you're welcome to come and pick up a few lengths for your jewellery (at no cost)

Tyne
I'll happily take it all and gladly pay your asking price, BUT - I have to raise the cash first is all.
The last months been horrendous for me expenditure wise on timber shop stuff and SWMTSWTP (She who mistakenly thinks she wears the pants) is arcing up coz she needs new shoes for work etc, and I've been spending it like water (the $600 dusty was a bargain I couldn't pass up - as were the $500 leitz cutter heads for the spindle molder) & I needed the $1000 worth of fences and planer guard from Robland in Belgium to use my machine safely).
I can't use my machine for any length of time coz thus far I have just 1 x 3 phase outlet in the shed - so I can't run the machine and dusty together, at the same time! YET.
I have to rein in the spending spree - until SWMTSWTP gets her shoes etc (it's also our anniversary in a few days) - pay days not till next Thursday...
I'm just not in a position financially NOW to buy the sheoak from you, and its not coz it's not well priced or I don't need it - its that I have to spend yet more $ on power outlet and cable inside the shed - before I can USE the timber.....
So i have a list of priorities... of how I spend my play doh... each fortnight.... and at the moment - your sheoak is down the list from the 3 phase switching and cable I need to be able to make any use of it - without being buried knee deep in sawdust....
Someone else might be able to get away with doing it in a different order - but not me unfortunately - I've already dusted my lungs, and if I don't get the dust collection issue sorted in my shed first... the she oak dust could kill me before I get started.
I wish it were different, I recognize the value of the timber and appreciate it for what it is (having cut & sold & used many many tonnes of it over the years) - it is, no doubt, my favorite timber to work with and look at so when planning projects for myself it s always my first choice.
I'm a sucker for it - basically - but that doesn't change my bank balance this week unfortunately - and in today's world, cash flow is king, if your selling something.
Now if my numbers come up in lotto tonight - well you'll be hearing from me of course!.
Learning to live within my means, is a tough lesson I am still trying to master... all part of my karmic "Zen" journey as BobL reminds me occasionally... it's all about the journey not the destination.
I'll get there - I'm just a little slower at it than most is all.
If it doesn't sell in the next 24 hours - you can always re list it - or I will let you know as soon as I have the ability to buy it from you.
I'd be very surprised if it doesnt sell tho.
I believe it to be good value and not an unfair price to ask at all.
