Wanted: Veritas Large Hand Router Plane
Does anyone have a Veritas Large Router Plane that they want to part with? Happy to pay market rates (I have no idea what that might be though, as I have never seen one for sale 2nd hand) and all postage costs to Qld, 4561.
Cheers,
Dave

veritas router plane
Hi Dogman
A new one will cost about $268 in Australia.(that is with the fence). Or if you want to import one from Lee Valley in Canada you can get the large router + fence +a set of 5 cutters + an inlay cutterhead for US$273. Have a look on their site for some other cheap stuff to right off the shipping cost and you're laughing. I dislike shopping outside Australia but desperate times......... Cheers Ross

Carbatec are down to $241 for the month of May, but I always like to see if there are any on the used market first. There are lots of us woodies that buy things that we don't end up using, and the only way we are allowed to buy more is by selling the ones we don't use.
Thanks for info on the import option. Quite a price difference, but the local importers are gambling on exchange rates a bit, and trying to run a business, so I don't begrudge the difference too much.
I will see what comes up on the forum first and probably kick myself for missing the May sale.
Cheers,
Dave

C'mon, surely someone has a dirty old unloved Veritas Router Plane. Didn't anyone fall in love with the idea of hand tools, only to realise it's all such hard work? Don't you just want to get rid of it to cash up for something nice, new, shiny, noisy and bloodthirsty? Oops, I'm not sending the right message here...
Anyone?

Good luck with that
I got the router, the set of cutters and the inlay kit from America. It is a great little tool. I had the old Stanley version but the Veritas is much better. I hope you get one second hand but it is hard to imagine any live Woody having used one then parting with it. Maybe a deceased estate. However you get one you will love it.
