WOLFENDEN 24" Thicknesser
WOLFENDEN 24" Thicknesser
Thicknesses is complete except for:
-Plug
-Blade bolts
-Blade cover bushes
-Dust chute need repair/replacement
Requires minimal reassembly and a good going over to check
Hasn't been run by myself and hasn't been run in three years or more.
Everything turns freely
It is the old square cutterhead and it is an attractive large lump of cast iron (if you like that sort of thing)
This old beast was given to me as a project after it spat a blade and scared the crap out of the previous owner.
When it threw the blade it broke one of the lugs off the blade cover.
I have had this fixed but two small bushes will have to be procured before it can be remounted.
I have replaced the flat belt too.
These two items came to $200 hence the starting price.
The new owner will need to replace/renew at least 10 of the blade holding bolts and i was quoted $50 each.
I would replace them all as some are visible stressed and the two that look ok are just as old and worn,
That makes 12x$50 = $600 (unless you have a lathe and the required skills or a mate with those skills)
There is one set (a pair) of blades that are usable but i am unsure as to how much meat is left on them.
A new pair would be about $700 (or four for $1200) according to my local blade sharpener.
(A new spiral cutterhead would be about $5000 haha)
Needless to say it is heavy and while i can manoeuvre it to the door by myself it will take a bit if heart-scratching and muscle to get it out the door and into a trailer.(door is covered by wide awning so crane truck can't lift it out but i have ramps and steel tube)
A heavy duty engine hoist might do the trick.
Please don't bid if you can't collect
Call me if you want more info or to come and have a look.
Open to offers,
Want it gone
