moisture front
Notice the moisture front as the saw moves through the timber (at about 3 mins 45 secs in the video)? I'm guessing that is due to the heat generated.

I am not sure if it is shown clearly in the video but the guy assisting the 2 man saw team will normally use a spray bottle to lubricate the blade as they slice through the log. It stops the blade from binding up with gum. A wedge is also knocked in by the same guy about 1/2 way down to spread open the sawn kerf. The moisture you mention would be the oil lubricant they use.

Okay, that may explain what I saw. My explanation is much more exciting but you're probably right, wood being a poor conductor of heat.

I took it to be sawdust from the previous cut coming off progressively via vibration.
