    Default Another saw maker

    Spoiler alerts :

    Hammer setting an feather files,

It’s a little repetitive towards the end, but still worth a watch I think.

    Cheers Matt.

He really gets on with the job.
Looks like it would be a very fast cutting saw as well.

It’s a compression manipulate type, very common in some trades, including saw maker’s it seems.

It was the speed he worked at that impressed me. Time it takes me to sharpen and set one (western saw)he would be half ways through making his second saw from scratch or perhaps on the third. Still if thats what you have done for 60 years then the wrinkles will be well ironed out.

We think we’re Surgeons, maybe the kind that operated around the 16/17 century tho.

    Cheers Matt.

The saws are surgical? Essential for the cleanest cuts and plenty for emergencies?

I hammer set the teeth on my larger saws and have enough experience with that to know just how impressive he is.

His freehand teeth cutting is also remarkable. I took a second look to see if he was using some visual pawl arrangement to get regular spacing and depth of the cut, but no, he does it all freehand and by eye!
    Stay sharp and stay safe!
