Thread: Manually folding A Saw Back

Cklett,
The saw plate is just held on by yes just being a pinched fit,but saying that the plate needs to be taped in from the toe end first, using a hammer gently, there’s no way in hell, it would come loose, the only way to seperate the plate from the back is to hold the plate in a vice an drift the back up and off.
Ive had to do that a few times during the build.
Cheers Matt.

Love it Matt. Sort of east meets west kinda feel. Maybe Badaxe or Bearcat treatment for the protruding end of the blade.

Picko,
It is with a heavy heart, that I’m afraid the powers above me said no,
We are considering some sort of gentle curve ?.
Also I couldn’t help my self, for those with roaming eyes, background of one off the pics[emoji6].
Cheers Matt.

Yeah, I'm a fan of gentle curves, looks good. And yes I did notice what was in the background - you have a serious problem young man!

Matt
Your saw plate shape is very reminiscent of Disston's No.9, which also sported the Reagan style handle. This is from 1918:

Paul?
This bloody virus , you have just reminded me I have that same saw, happily sitting on the wall of saw, in Ballarat, but it’s been so bloody long since I’ve been there I’ve forgotten I had one.
The problem is Paul, Sally does not want the saw plate cut out like that.
Cheers Matt.
