If those tooth patterns fitted in with each other, it must be 4tpi, 12tpi, 16tpi ?? (rather than ppi?)

Could be I didn't measure the teeth just went by the numbers on the bars. It just removes the old teeth and cuts the new ones. It did a surprisingly neat job, cant wait to try the filer. Apparently I can just put the saw and guide straight into the filer from the toother. I may retooth all my saws.

Pity you're not in Sydney - I'd get you to retooth a couple of my relics

You say you can do up to 16 Tpi…..What is required to greater? A smaller punch or a template???


Can a filler file teeth without them being punched first???

To answer myself, You need custom made racks to go higher than 16 points.

No the filler requires existing teeth to auto feed.

The retoother is ok to use. The filer looks complicated. May take a few trys. Sawdustmaker you could always post them down.

Will come in very handy, all those saw we made, would have been much easier to cut them with your machine and then file em by hand.

If I can remember how to get to your place, don't be surprised if I'm on your doorstep with a hand-full of new and old saws.

Enjoy playing with them, and we want more pictures, before and afters.

Doing some research today, many people stick the filer in the corner and let it collect dust. Apparently they are very finicky and almost impossible to get set up correctly, to the point people including professionals go back to hand filling. Which they deem to be quicker & easier, than mucking about with the machine.

There is also complaints about skipping and double filling one tooth mucking up the saw on a regular basis.


My suggestion would be to set the filer up and get it correct and do saws in batches if possible before spending a lot of time reconfiguring the machine to another saw.

It was also said the saw setting machine is a waste of time and space, but the retoother was held in high regard.

Just retoothed a Diston to 6.5. looks ok, now must sharpen it.

Yes you can alter it to what u want. I think I used 8deg.
