Default Super hard Disston D8.....can't be filed...!!!

I wrecked a couple of files trying to sharpen very hard Disston D8. Is this normal? I was able to get a workable edge on it using a diamond file. The saw is very old so how did anyone ever sharpen it?

    Thanks,
    Bill

I wondered about that but they're saw files I purchased at Lee Valley Tools. For the heck of it, I bought a couple at Princess Auto and wrecked them too.....
