    Default Tiger Myrtle backsaw.

    Hi all. Attached are images of a recent backsaw I completed. A sweet piece of Tiger Myrtle was used to make the handle and the colors that characterise the timber so well are displayed at their finest. The saw plate has been sharpened rip and is 9 inches in length, 2 1/4 deep below the brass back, and is 16 tpi. The 1st inch and a half of toe end teeth have no set applied to allow a soft start to the sawn kerf. As you will note there are still some fine scratches to buff out on the saw plate which I will get to later on.

    Regards. Stewie;

    Hi Stewie - good to see you are still busy, and nice to see the way the lines of your handles are getting finer & finer - these are very nice-looking saws! I was just thinking a day or two ago that you have been rather quiet of late - you must've read my mind.

    Don't know what number these two saws bring your total to, but you must be getting on towards 30 or more saws by now - do you keep most of them, or are they all finding good homes?

    Cheers,
    IW

    Hi Ian. I keep most of them. The very early handles that I considered below par were scrapped and the saw blades refurbished.
