    Default carbide tipped Lathe tools

Here's first attempt at being a cheapskate, Laminated Marine ply/Oak, and Karri/Oak handles (all in the process of being made at present), 12mm sq stainless bar stock, 1 square head, 1 roundhead, 1 detail diamond head.

here's 2 before and after shots, with side by side. after filing out the pits, then it was 2 hours in a seat running through the grades of wet/dry 180/240/360/400/800/1200 and a tub of water with dishwashing liquid in recommended by a friend, good advice. there are a few small floors so once the other 2 are ground for cutting tips, I will go back to 400/600/800/1200, then finish off with 1500 and a buff. I just hope the handles come out as nice.

Nothing 'cheapskate' about making your own tools, Fumbler - especially when they turn out as nice as yours. I would've used boring old mild steel for the bars, but the stainless has polished up very nicely, and you won't need to worry about rust....

    Cheers,
