    Default Couriers????

    Hi there

About 5 weeks ago I contacted a company In Qld to purchase some Marine ply and epoxy, on the good say so of some members of this website.

when I rang and told them where I lived, near Mildura, they said yep, no problems, it was cheaper buying it from them and having it sent down here by courier then buying it here.

So I expected it here within a week at least, after a week and no marine ply, i rang the company, they were very helpfull and chased up the courier, "should be there withing a few days"

A few days later no arrival, another call, "It appears to have been lost by the courier company, we will make inquiries" Later "Aparrently its in Sydney after having gone to Mildura, On its way, two days at Max..." Three to four days later no arrival.

Another call to the company, "Apparently its in Griffith, two days it should arrive."

1 week later still no arrival, another call , another few days and I am informed that the Marine ply has been lost but the epoxy will arrive in a few days, lo and behold it does.

I ring the company again and am informed that my order should not have been sent in the first place as it is to far and things go worng, (realllllly?)
as it is too far, and I should have ordered it from Melbourne instead, I told them that I ordered through them due to the good word on this site. But that made no difference. Throughout the whole experience I was never told it could not be sent to me from Qld, from memory we are one country.

I am a failry tolerant person and could not fault the company where I made the purchase, but i got the distinct impression that he was blamming me for ordering it in the first place, and he got quiet stroppy telling me he was loosing money because the Ply had gone missing. I would have though that the Courier company would have to reimburse him.

As it stands I ordered it through Melbourne a couple of days ago and hope it turns up. I won't mention the companies name as it is the couriers fault, but I will not be ordering anything via them again. (Not that they would send it lol)

I'll say your tolerant, I am too generaly but after all that. I would have hit the roof at treatment like that, and been up the transport company like a rat up a rafter. Hope you get get your ply ok this time.

Or ended up with a set of forks through the middle.

Generally have had a good run with couriering things around, both sending and receiving.

Used to have some problems with local taxi trucks at work, order a ute or van for a dedicated load of polished furniture frames or similar to go direct to somewhere 20 Km away. Quite often they arrive loaded with just enough room to fit a shoebox in the back, then bitch because we wont give the job and expect them to call up another empty vehicle that can handle the load.

Other times the 20KM direct trip has taken 2 days because they didn't want to go there that day. Never could understand why they accepted the job in the first place in these cases, and could never get an explaination from them either.
