Fast delivery from Timbercon
I know Timbercon has copped a fare bit of flack from this forum over poor delivery times, I myself have waited once for 6 weeks, but they have just blown me away. Placed my order over the internet on Sunday night, came home Tuesday and there it was.
What ever they have done to improve their service, it seems to have worked - well done guys.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

That's good news. We need all the suppliers we can get.
As I remember Haggis Golly (the chief poobah?) did actually make a couple of posts last year, which suggests that he monitors all us punter's whingeing here.
Maybe he is taking some action to refine his business. I think their main problem was poor, or no communication, regarding the progress of orders and their stock situation.
Timebcon has fair pricing and a large range of gear (possibly too large to manage), so I hope this encoraging incident of customer service is not isolated.
I have always found the guys there really helpful and knowledgeable, it's their inventory management and woeful comms that have let them down.Bodgy

My experience of Timbecon is that if it is in stock, it gets to yu really quickly. The dalays are when you are put on back-order and the item is only shipped to you when it arrives from the supplier.
I have some stuff that has been on back-order for several weeks and it can get frustrating. Sometimes you orders something to save a few dollars or to make up a package to save postage and if it doesn't turn up immediately, it doesn't matter. But sometimes it is quite frustrating not to have it.
The solution? I think that, like Harris Technology and Amazon (to name just two), Timbecon should upgrade their online shopping page so that it shows whether the item is in stock (and how many are in stock) and, if it isn't, give a delivery estimate for back-order.Cheers

Poor service from Timbecon
I recently purchased a Torquata dovetail jig at the Sydney Show from Timbecon. They were unable to supply the Router bit on the day. No problem it would be mailed within a few days. Arrives home with the Jig, no instructions supplied. Contacted Timbecon by Email. 2 replies within 2 days from different people, both apologising and looking into the problem. 11 days later no bit and no instructions. I contacted them again. A reply within 1 day from another person, he had attached the instructions as a PDF file. Great, this could have been done after the first message, by the way no mention of the Router bit. I now know how to use it but cannot because I do not have the bit. This is my third problem with deliveries from Timbecon, you would think that I would have learned by now.

It wouldn't be hard to improve.
I once ordered some gear from them to be sent to Tassie - I used to be in Brisbane and asked them to ensure it was going to Tassie and they advised yes, it was. Weeks later - nothing arrived and upon checking with freight company, it was sent to Brisbane, despite Timbecon telling me it went to Tassie. Got here eventually so I gave them another go.
Next time, same deal - please ensure going to Tassie. Went to Brisbane again! Finally when it got here, it wasn't what I ordered, it was just a box of old glue tins!
After this I said never again ( but I did and wish I didn't but I am a slow learner).
It is good to see that they may be improving.
regards,

Gotta even things up - I ordered a few bits on Wednesday and they turned up today, Friday. So far, everything I've ordered from them has turned up pretty quickly.
Cheers

Timbecon Service Improving
It is my pleasure to report some great service from Timbecon last week too. A problem with a switch on a Bandsaw was pleasantly sorted out within 30 minutes.
I agree with previous posts that providing customers with additional information would take it to the next level. (ie stock levels and shipping progress.)

And Ross Gobby (hagues Father) and brother I believe of James of (Carba _Tec in Perth),who started the business also keeps an eye on things but has stepped back now to let the sons do most o' the hard yakka!
they have their moments but being reliable mainly on importation of product they're behind the 8 ball sometimes.
GOTTA also remember they have limited storage capacity to carry the vast range of gear in the catalogue but generally I've found turn around time is quite good and a measure of their capacity to meet demands.
Always found them amenable in the dealings I've had with them.

I ordered a couple of small items from Timbecon recently, they arrived here within 48hrs, and only the actual postage was charged - can't complain about that!

I have it on fairly sound authority that Geoff from Carba-Tec in Perth actually started both businesses. His partner James managed Timbecon in the beginning when it was then known as Woodstock, same as the origin of Carba-Tec in WA. Geoff and James then handed the Bentley operation over to Ross, and they more or less went their separate ways.
Fairly fierce competion now seems to be the go. Geoff still seems to run the technical side of Carbatec in Balcatta.

Over the last 3 or 4 years I have ordered quite a lot of stuff from timbecon.
Same story......sometimes the service is excellent and the goods arrive quickly and in good condition.
Othertimes...........
Still, we go back cause they are cheap....
Cheers...
