Sorry to hear it Zed, hope you are better now.

I managed to get into the shop for a bit, and proved that absence turns you into a woodworking idiot. I found a piece of trim, jointed it, thicknessed it, cut it to width, painstakingly measured the exact length it had to be, then promptly cut the mitre the wrong way. Since it was the final cut, the piece was about 15mm too short.

Let's start again fresh next weekend shall we?

If it makes you fell any better, which it won't, you're not Robinson Crusoe

It's been The Lost Weekend around here too.

    Bloody winter ills.

Sorry to hear you and the lower primate have been crook, Craig.

If it's the normal dreaded winter Lergy, take several doses of the Scottish elixir. It might not cure the dreaded L but it'll make you feel that it doesn't matter.

Well I've been perfectly well and still didn't seem to get anything done!

Ok I've been a bit crook, but in the getting over it mode, and had to do a bit of work, and also absolutely stuffed from watching the Tour each night till the next day....

Finally finished stacking all that darned hardwood in the boatshed, (1.5 tonne of timber carried from front to back of house, sorted and stacked! )

Cut some of it up even, the blanks for the keys for a musical coffee table I'm thinking about, some rails for a couple of beds, a few sticks for the shelf under the bench, quite a bit of firewood......

    Nothing done though.

Ah well, there's always next weekend.

Oh! I give MathewA his Muji tomorrow if he didn't miss the plane, and doesn't get probed too intensely by customs!

    cheers,

    P

thanks for the sentiment but if you hug me, I'll lose my reputation and you'll get sick... so unless you want some time off work...

It's funny, I actually have to be sick to get into the shed.

I hurt my back on Thursday so wasn't able to do much as far as the reno works around the house during the weekend, just able to go to the shed and "tinker".

Anyway hope you feel well enough soon Zed.

    Zed,

I think it might be time to close the border with Mexico in winter. Every year, the Victorians come up here around July, and give us all the 'flu. They are easily recognisable in the shopping malls - pasty-faced, snivelling and coughing. I try to hold my breath until I am at least 30 paces away from them.

Try damping the concave side of the blanket box top & sitting it on a pair of supports (to let the air get to it) with some weight on top.

Having just returned from Sydney town I'm hoping beyond hope that I haven't picked up a nasty germ from one of those sneezing wheezing city people on the 373 from Randwick that I caught every day for a week.
