My Dogs(almost lost one a few weeks ago, Kids & me were devastated)

I took Shop Dog (lab) to a working bee today. Her first big outing. She ate soooo many sausages, and ran around with so many kids, that at the end of three hours I found her upside down under the ute with her feet in the air.

Yeah, dogs - I like my dog too.

Tell me though, am I the only one that thinks Labradors are a life-support system for a stomach?

When SWMBO comes home on friday nights, as she leaves every sunday to go to her chefs course.
Why... she brings me hungy jacks which I love and cant get in my hometown!

Positive people with a smile on their dial.

(I didn't even look at the "hate" thread 'cos I fix broken things for a living & listening to people grizzle & moan kind of wears you down.)

Swordfish steak done on the B-B-Q & laid on a pile of mashed parsnip with green beans & a bottle of good red on Friday night.

A beer by the dam at sunset watching the platapus.

Sitting beside an open fire.

Sticky date pudding with warm caramel brandy sauce & icecream.

The smell of sawdust.

Music.

Not sure if I agree with the perfect golf shot - That's the only reason I go back; 1 good shot in 200 and you're hooked.

Feeding the horses ans having them nudging while waiting for a feed,
The dogs, and the kids I suppose,
The purring of my espresso machine in the morning,
The luxury of croissant and black coffee one morning a week,
Dropping in and annoying once a week or so on my way into town,
A good shiraz,
A good Chardonnay,
A good properly made beer,
Fishing,
Fly tying,
A decent movie with a bit of action and intrigue,
Finding a good book,
Watching coppers booking dickheads on the highway.

I feel the urge to keep this thread going because I believe there must be more good things to post than in the bad things thread.:confused:

Anyway I do have so more:

My dog when he comes back with that ear to ear grin after chasing a cat up the street
Those really unbelievable bad (you had to be there) things that sometimes happen to you, and are bad at the time but cause people to roll about on the floor laughing (including yourself) when you later recite the story (with embellishments of course).{we had a thread like this once}
Corned beef
The smell of freshly cut jarrah
A tropical downpour, (standing in it)
The strike of a barra, and the bend of the rod.
Kangaroo Paws ( ....the flowers you idiots )
The stories my daughter makes up and tells me
Old photo albums
Going back to my old primary school and marvelling at how small it is.
Knocking up a bit of a tome and having others enjoy it.
Hiding under the blankets with my kids at night reading "The Muddle Headed Wombat" "Snugglepot & Cuddliepie" "Blinky Bill" or "The Magic Pudding".
Mallee roots in the fire.
An old piece of timber dressed up and used in a new piece of furniture.

Waking up on the first morning of a three day walk and knowing you've got everything you need to survive in your pack and a whole day ahead of you.
My 5yo daughter's little love notes that she writes to me.
Stirring up the missus until she gets to the point of chasing me around the house with death in her eyes.
Coffee.
Standing with my feet in the ocean and watching the kids jump around in the waves.
Going out to the new block and imagining a great big shed on it.
Thunderstorms - the louder the better - we open the curtains, turn off the lights and sit back and watch.
My son's cheeky smile when he's about to do something naughty.

My darling daughter when she says “Daddy I wanna make you something”
Woodwork
Basketball
Maths :confused:
My mother when she is not nagging
Chinese take away
Pork in Peking sauce (trust me try it)
Good friends
Sitting in a car (hi Christopha!! )

Real peace and quiet, like being on a place knowing that you are the only people for miles around

Sitting around having a relaxed talk with good friends or family (Gezelleg in dutch)

That feeling of pleasure after you have taken some poor defenseless piece of wood and made it into something useful

Reading, either a good novel or a scientific paper that really catches your imagination

G'day,

I'll just list some and in no order:

enjoying the little things with my wife,
working with my hands,
seeing my family back in Queensland,
working with clients who understand and appreciate good design,
the serenity and beauty of nature,
a good laugh,
time with friends,

but all this will never really make up for the loss of loved ones.
