Cause evening meal time is the most likely time that most people will be home and hence answer their phone. I'm sure they plan the time of the call in advance depending on the country/state you're in. India and Pakistan are well situated to call Australia - when it's 7pm on the Eastern seaboard it's 2:30pm in India. Originally Posted by JackoH

Actually, your TV is a two way device and they are monitoring it all the time. This way, they can tell the most auspicious time to ring you. I know this is true - I read it in a book

It doesn't work if you put a large foilie on top of the TV, and it also helps if you're eating pancakes. Don't know why but I also read it in a book.
