Where's the riving knife?
how does the guard mount to the saw table? it seems to be via a blade "splitter" in line with the saw blade an arrangement that requires removal should you be making a cut that doesn't go the full depth of the work piece.
otherwise a welcome additionregards from Alberta, Canada

That looks like a sensible alternative to the SawStop. It seems to me that it isn't as foolproof as the SawStop, but it looks like it will be much cheaper, and it won't cost you a sawblade and stop mechanism every time it is engaged. The ability to retrofit the system to an existing saw easily is also a huge plus.
I've been a fan of the SawStop since I first saw it, even though I don't have one - mainly for lack of space (I have a combo). This system may be easier to get around than the SawStop and may not be the ideal solution, but seems to me to be a reasonable alternative.Bob C.
Never give up.
