    These are woodworking forums? uh?

There was a young boy called Wyatt
    Who was awfully quiet

    He faded away

There are times when I, and I suspect other members hesitate to post a question on this BB because of the fear that it will be hijacked before getting any usefull answers.
Once a thread is hijacked the serious answers tend to stop.
    A pity that.
    Thanks Macca

    Hi DPM

Trying to be serious for a minute. I agree that hijacking can be a problem sometimes and needs to be watched.

But I just logged onto new posts and 13 of 59 were non wood related. And these were in the forums dedicated to that role.

    Thats okay isnt it.

    And this isnt very cool is it??;

"Sure don't forget your Aussie humour, but if all you ever post is non-woodworking in content - go elsewhere!"

Surely anyone is welcome to come and join in provided they play by the rules?

Its a fine balance but I think I would rather the current mix than a bunch of old men peering down there glasses like old sages hey?

    Note: (Grose generalisation )

Perhaps the moderators could split the "new posts" in two so you can have serious and nonserious?

    cheers mate

Oh and at least my avitar is always thinking about wood

Maccas on the money the hijackers are the ones that annoy me most and as usual the chief instigator has turned this thread around with the usual poor attempt at comic hijacking

yep, I can see that happening, but then there's always a balance I notice. Well mostly. Some knowledgeable bloke, who couldn't be bothered reading all the following silly posts, just answers your first origional post succinently <- just the stuff you want.

As for the fear of asking a silly question. How else you gonna find some good answers without bitting the bullet and just asking. Off the forum the same problem must still exist, when face to face with someone. In fact I'd say over the net, with all the anonononomity (I can't bloody be bothered spelling that right) its a lot easier asking silly questions.

Truthfully, I find myself asking silly questions sometimes, even though I'm pretty shore what the answer is, just cause I like to be cautious (Sounds like a good excuse ). See, I might have missed something obvious, and often, the following discussion reveals a relevent piece of info, that I would never have thought of....and all cause of a dumb question.....

I mean, its easy to deal with embarrissment after making a fool of yourself....just post one of these things -> .....feel instantly better after that.....bit like confessional; a reset button....can start acting like a wally all over again.

    ......ahhhh, thats better.

Could the kind members of this forum tell me if I'm a clown or an idiot. I want to keep my avatar up to date.

Remeber kids, life's to short to be taken seriously.
    Boring signature time again!

I'm not sure if you're a clown or an idiot OB. No, you're not an idiot.

Just be thankful that you're not a sanctimonious old phart.

heres another thread on a woodie forum that's not talking about wood stuff.

maybe you lot should be talking more about woodie stuff and
    ....... not about etiquette
