    Default I smell a con.

    Hi,
I just received a communication from Bugs Bunny Tour thanking me for being a client. They enclosed two scratch cards one of which says I have won second prize of US$190,000.00. As I have never heard of them I was wondering if any one else has.
    Regards
    Hugh

Play it along for a while and see where it leads.
They will probably want all your details and bank acc details....

    Thanks Peter,
It is too similar not to be the same mob.
That is the info I wanted when I posted and also to warn other members as these scum never strike once. I think my address was skimmed from the phone book.
They do have a website but want you to jump through hurdles to get in, I did not go in.
    Regards
    Hugh

This type of thing has been going on since forever.

There was the "Irish Sweepstakes" where you had to have the winning horse and your ticket drawn. The New York Daily News would post the winner names. Did you buy a ticket? No? Ignore it.

Then the Nigerian Prince that was trying to hide your lottery winnings. Or they have raided the national treasury. The answer is to take any fees out of my winnings.

There was the "Free Las Vegas" vacation. All you had to do was to endure a time share "presentation". Or a free hotel stay in Honolulu and also endure a time share presentation.

There was another phishing expedition. . . I gave them my address and phone number as the FBI headquarters in Los Angeles. I got a few nasty E-Mails from the Scammer so I know that he actually called.

Generally there a few rules for dealing with these Scams or In General Sales pitches.
1 ~ Did you buy a ticket in the said lottery? How could your answer be anything but "NO"? So how could you win anything.
2 ~ The "Free Vacation" sales presentations. On the Hawaii one, I actually had purchased airline tickets before the "Free Vacation" arrived. When I told the sales person that I already had airline tickets to Honolulu, I think that she wet her panties. And then when I told her that the 90 minute presentation was too much to endure, she almost had a heart attack.
3 ~ On the Las Vegas one, we actually "endured". The presentation was cut short when we told the sales person that we were in Las Vegas to purchase a home due to a job change. We did have three nights in an 'Off the strip' "Vacation Villas" little more than a third rate hotel room. We left after two nights and checked into a real hotel on The Strip.

There a very funny comedian called James Veitch who has done a number of standup routines and TED talks about how he deals with the scammers. They are well worth watching.

Look for James Veitch on youtube.

Pathetic, I know, but it makes me feel good to know someone is getting revenge.

That is gold! Love your work.

A while back there were a number of news articles stating that cold callers in a number of call centres were quitting their jobs and or going on stress leave due to the rude, crude and generally non cooperative Australians who were giving them a hard time.

I must admit, I have tried very hard to live up to their opinions of my fellow Australians and have on many occasions questioned their parentage and told them to go forth and procreate with themselves. I’m simply doing my bit to ensure that they waste their time with me to help protect some of our oldies and less aware citizens.

I had 2 phone calls within a week from one of these "you've entered an online competition" mobs, but they wouldn't tell me what competition it was or where I'd entered. Told them I was going to file a harassment suit if they called again and haven't heard from them since.

Arron, the James Vetch gags are particularly funny alright. "Where's my free toaster?... I think hummus is the next big thing!" haha, very funny sarcastic English humour.

    I had a call yesterday
This Jim from “the insurance company” I just wanted to let you know we have now closed the case and found you are not at fault. The only outstanding item (from the closed case ) was compensation for my injury. What was your injury again? I told him I was decapitated, big operation to fix the problem. I don’t think he will ring back
