Good morning members, reading the Ebay re Cash Engineering Universal mill.
From the pics it appears that the X table does swivel usually 30 -40 degrees either side of centre.
With a dividing head fitted and connected to a drive train on the feed, helical gears, spiral splines can be made.
Cheers John off to Anzac day ceremonies soon.

What a shame about that mill being left in the rain, he could of spared $10 for a tub of grease to put on it.
Also looks like a huge job getting it across that soft grass and gravel.

Well there was a use for Phils Blue cap.
There are a few bolts and things missing... though I guess given the amount of work to get it running a few bolts etc would be the least of your worries. They would have to be the ugliest handlewheels I've seen. Why would you drill a large hole opoosite the handle? just to make extra sure it was out of balance? Still as a collection of casting I guess its not that bad if you had the time and not the money(says a guy that hasnt finished the cross slide on his lathe yet)

He is selling the countershaft, collets and manual all in separate auctions. I hope 4 different bidders don't get one lot each. Something like that deserves to be sold whole. A very nice piece of history.

Nice! I find myself most often doing quite small work, not quite sure how that happened however. If this was closer I'd have it in a heartbeat. Quite what I'd do with a third lathe I have no idea, but it sure is hard to let this one go.

PS For any of the woodworkers, that's a good looking bench he's selling too. The front vice is missing, but not a big deal to replace. Vintage Industrial Carpenters Joiners Work Bench Workbench Blackwood Pine | eBay

Depends on where you are going doesn't it?

Onto a more Labor orientated area, you go for the red, Liberal area the blue.... Inner city the Green.... Go to Sydney and you wear pink.. etc...

I was hoping the yellow rope was included. Funny add that one. I don't think he has any idea about what he is selling.

The SV65 will accommodate W10 collets, the more common SV70 uses the larger W12 and the 102, the W20s the seller has on offer. Now, if one of you blokes wins the lathe and the collets and wants to unload the W20s, I'll put my hand up. They fit my dividing head.

The countershaft could be Schaublin but it differs from those shown in the copy of the 1943 SV65 and 70 catalogue I'm looking at. The other unusual thing is the headstock and its flat and vee belt drive. In '43, it was either a three speed flat or a three speed vee spindle pulley. The headstock casting on the lathe being sold looks nothing like those from 1943.

    Hi BT,
Do you think that headstock is factory? Doesnt look "cast" to me, unless its been machined all over.
