It wasn’t Marko or I. I followed it up with him this morning. His customer wants a pretty looking one. I’m thinking that’s not going to exist down here. They are looking at Europe. Several thousand Euro’s but something that could be put straight into service.

Hi Ueee, I don't know about the stroke, in fact I still don't know that much about it.

I do know that not much come's with it, a few tools and bits and piece's, no vice.

But......he reckons that it still works fine, he said that at a guess it is about 1500 high and about 2 mtrs long, 2 ton ? he reckons it's BIG and solid.

Hmmm.. dunno about the 1500 high ? we'll see

Maybe something more 60-70's aesthetic.. How about an Elliott Sturdishape?

Wow, how can you take what are normally nice looking machines and make one so ugly.....

I like that style myself, but I prefer machinery that has squarer lines to it. Even though the shaper might not suit people in looks, they are a good machine.

Give me curves any day! I really like the detail around Freddies base, its a lot more flowing than just a great flat lump like the sturdishape. Having said that i still firmly believe form must follow function.

I would say it was designed in the 60's/70's when brutalism was all the rage....

Thanks RC. Brutalism. That's the word I am looking for. Needless to say in my line of work, smooth flowing lines are very classy.

    Default Brutalism

For those interested, here is a brief article about the movement arising from Modernism. Given the intertwining of the design disciplines, it was inevitable that industrial designers would follow the architectural lead.
