That wasn't a general for sale post. If it was I'd have listed it in the commerce section. I saw Matthew say he would "love that granite surface table".

I have one here the same I've been Umming and Arring about since before Christmas as to part with. Its been a true and noble plate for 24 years. I've used it 2 days this week.

So when I saw Matthew say he wanted a plate of that size, it tipped me over the edge to make the offer. Spur of the moment thing when I saw him say he would like one. I'd like to see it go to a good home. It was also good in that Matt is semi local - 300 Km. I had a good day out a few months ago, meeting Ueee half way, on a similar arrangement. We could do Moe or Traralgon this time.

So that offer was intended to Matthew if he was serious about getting a plate that size. Its a $100 cheaper than the one on Ebay. No skin of my nose if he isn't in the market. But he gets first rite of refusal. After that I'll work out what to do with it. But that offer still stands.

Greg's a a good bloke in my opinion. He understands my conundrum.

You blokes do know you can buy a plate that size from Hare & Forbes for $770. Possibly better if you don't take the stand.

I think between Greg & I, we worked out that might be a better option than the buy on mine or the Ebay one plus freight. That will be as close as Brisbane, but brand new for not a lot of difference price wise given the freight.

Nice Level... but a couple of warning bells are ringing about the granite...

That support table looks all wrong, with corner only supports instead of the conventional 3 point support, no provision for levelling...

The granite would weigh about 160kg,

A granite surface plate should be supported in the same way, and the same points, it was supported when manufactured.

Wow that was quick. Collected on Thursday 18th(at the earliest), off to the Manufacturer to be "Manufacturer refurbished" and returned in less than two days. For sale with a 600% mark up.

Nice work if you can get it. Still he has to sell it before he makes any money.

WOW! Good work if you can get it. I'd consider it for $250, but $1600!!! That's why I like this thread. Is it worth that much, or did Grays just sell it off for nothing? Dept of Def, have no idea. They sold off the 1 Billion $ Sea sprites recently for $100million to NZ.

    Hi Stuart,

This is more your territory, fancy optical devices... ( think kitty cam..)

I looked at that in the Grays auction, and decided, I had no idea what it was or what it was supposed to do, still not sure for that matter, but damn... it looks expensive! I'd buy it in an instant just because it looks so sweet... not for that price however...

    Regards
    Ray

    Hi Ray,
If one was to run ones eyes down the bidders list.
I had my eye on a few things with "options" on some others but the bits I really wanted went to high so I didnt pick up the others. I was also a little worried about getting it home.

Mike?(or anyone else that e.go to pick up from greys.....) how do you get the size and weight? and packing? I wish there was a "ballpark figure and adjust the final bill" option

    Stuart

p.s. Oh and I've got no idea what its for either. It was just the "Manufacturer refurbished" part that got me.

p.p.s Changed my mind, I was thinking there was a 90degree prism in there so you were looking vertically, but I'm now thinking thats wrong. Think of it as a rather large dial gauge with a microscope to read the dial.

Default Nice sounding imperial tool kit (mostly Snap On they say)

A pretty comprehensive imperial tool kit with an emphasis on aircraft maintenance tools, but having said that, apart from a few tools for aircraft skin repairs, most are pretty general use tools, and might be worth looking at if you are looking to burn a few $$$ on some Snap On hand tools.

    Hi Rob,
It doesn't say what brand everything is, but its in a Hazet tool trolley.....if the tools are Snap on and Hazet that would be one hell of a good tool set. More importantly though, we are yet to see some pics of that K&T......

    Cheers,
