I wonder if either of the aforementioned members worked on this machine?

I saw that one last week... Considered it but way too hard to get home...
Power requirements for even small CNC machining centres are usually pretty extreme, they stick whopping big motors on them for torque at low speeds..
I even got as far as pricing a Tormach PCNC1100... around $12 000 in Australia for anyone interested...
One day....Light red, the colour of choice for the discerning man.

I think its a bit dear for what it is. There is going to be lots of cheap machining centers up for sale in the next few years as the manufacturing industry contracts. I've been to a couple of auctions in Adelaide recently where machines have gone pretty cheap. I saw a rough Haas Vf2 mill go to a hobby guy for $1500 (I had to use all my will power to keep my hand in my pocket so i didn't bid). My boss picked up a late 90's Mill for about $8000. Full enclosure, 30 tool changer and about 1m of X travel. It looked a bit rough but it had been maintained well and is still as accurate as our new mills. So $3500 for a open mill that needs work, good thing to stay away from.
