Timber identification??
Hi,
Trying to find out what timber this is here.
I am thinking hoop pine?
Has come out of a 1879 built hotel in the cape york area.
I am not certain these are the original rafters but know they are around 50 years old.
They are dead straight, light and have been overspanned for many years.
Have seen minimal rot or ant attack.
For a gauge of era have included a photo of a 4 inch nail, the remainder of the roof structure is silky oak and Cooktown ironwood.
Cheers

Cant see any pics.
A suggestion: one of the best ways (better than posting pics of wood with almost no features, like hoop pine ) is to get some authentic hoop pine and compare them - hardness, density, colour, the end grain etc.
