    Default Vic Ash varieties

    Hi all,

    A9-EE8-BE8-E723-48-A1-ADB1-921993-D3-A9-BE — ImgBB

Why is it that some of the Vic ash wood is redder, and some more pale white?

    What are the varieties here?

    Thanks for help

The two varieties are E. Regnans and E. Delegatensis.

Yep, and the same two species plus messmate - E obliqua - makes up Tasmanian Oak.

Should say "theoretically" as it is an "industry secret" that other species of eucalypts get mixed into the blend.

When I buy Tas Oak, I try to select the messmate as I prefer its slightly darker colour and hardness - others have different ideas.
