    Default Dremel consumables

    Hello all.
I've been using my Dremel to cut thin stainless steel mosaic pins. 6mm diameter with copper inserts in them . They are used for knifemaking, to decorate the handle scales.
The kit I bought years ago had some fibre reinforced discs and some thin cutoff discs.
The thin cutoff discs worked a treat but I only got 2 or 3 cuts and they were worn out.
I have seen on fleabay stacks of spares and supposed thin diamond cutoff discs.
    Any opinion on those.
Also anyone know if they would be available in the Newcastle area.
    Or alternatives.
    Thanks in advance

Another vote for the Ezilock cutoff discs, makes short work of small metal cutting jobs . . . shortening screws for a SWMBO job . . .

It's been a bloody funny week this one.

I've contemplated three different jobs and I've now been asked for info on all three.

    The coincidence is astounding.

Anyway!.... Yes. I bought the fibre cutoff disks as 2x50 packs. They were cheap and I've used them on many jobs, mostly commercial ones. They've worked admirably and none have exploded or acted like el-cheapos.

    I'd buy them again.

The stuff from China isn't packed in pretty packaging like the Dremel stuff at Bunnings. It's often just newspaper or baggies ... But one doesn't need fancy wrapping.... Just a good consumable.

..... Now, back to looking at jewellery making and polishing bits.... (The coincidence is astounding).

Yes, I have 10 of the little diamond disks. They seem to last forever.

Its been a long time since I've bought anything for the Dremel

If I were to though, without question I'd use AliExpress.

Finding quality isn't too hard. Look for a store that is well presented and sells things in a category. A store that sells a million-and-one-things is simply grabbing any old crap to fill an order. They are often located in SZ and might even just send a flunky down to the mega-markets1 to buy the first thing that vaguely looks like what was promised.

A quality store trades on continued supply. They have the good stuff.

The second thing to look at are the reviews from Russians. Man, they are HARD on slackers, crappy products and things that don't work. If seems that if there are thousands of sales and no complaints from Russians, then you are good!

Most Russian reviews will be along the lines of "arrived on time" or "looks like it will work". This is high praise indeed. I can't ever say I've seen a review like "wow! Made my MONTH!" or "Fantastic, I'll defo be buying more". Nope. They are hard and don't praise.... the lack thereof is a sure sign all is good.

I buy off AliE all the time. Its great, but one must be patient with the post.

1 - these markets are to be seen to be believed. They are like a 10,000-store junk-shops the size of North Sydney. Over 5 levels. Its mind boggling. They sell eevveerryytthhiinngg.
