    Default Does anyone here use Proxxon tools

    Hi, just after an opinion on Proxxon tools. Are they just flimsy overpriced toys? Or can they be used reliably? I’m thinking mainly the table saw and thicknesser to produce planking for model ships/boats. Later I may graduate to a milling machine to produce parts for them. Depends on $$$

    I have both the Proxxon Thicknesser and Planer, both are good units for small section timbers which I use for toys. The Thicknesser has been used on anything from pine to Jarrah and gives an acceptable finish.
    The only drawback is you will need to clean it quite often as it has no means of removing shavings.
    I have a made a vacum chute on the outfeed which helps.
