    Default Who's Got What?

I'll say straight up I'm a Dremel fanatic!
Their a heck of a good tool for all sorts of jobs.
I think anyone who's seen my work would understand why I like them so much.
They have application all over the place for me.

    I've got:
A 300 it's my workhorse I give the poor thing heaps, but it just keeps on keeping on.
I have a brand new 300 in it's case never used, it's there waiting for the horse to go lame!
    I've also got a 4000, the Trio, a Moto-Saw and a Saw Max.
Along with router attachments, drill press and some other odds and ends.

Like I said bit of a fanatic

I find them all handy items in my work.

    Anyone else got the bug?

    Cheers
    Trev.

I've got a 300, may it Rest In Pieces, replaced by a 4000. As well as the drill press, router bench that the 4000 won't fit in, hand held router,
a couple of flex drives, also a Pen Wizard. Pity the 4000 can't be bought without all the other bits.

Here's what I've got minus what's out in the workshop (carport).

All great stuff for anyone who's into modelling, toy making, sculpting any type of smaller detailed work.

    Cheers.

I just bought the 8220 with some Bunnings gift vouchers. I had an old powered tool which I passed onto my son (which I hope I do not regret).

I have the drill press (I never use it since it is wobbly) router, chainsaw jig, tile grout removing attachement, flexible extension. I really need a dedicated station since I mostly use the tool freehand. Even sharpening the chain saw I mostly use it freehand.

I made myself a bit holding unit from a block of wood. I should post it here since it has been really handy.

Another Dremel fan good to hear mate.
Their fantastic for all sorts of fiddley bits.
I use them on my builds and for resorting handplanes.
They've got a thousand and one uses.
I always tell my son if he ever has a tooth that needs some work.
A Dremel and some bodyfiller should do the job.

    Cheers
    Trev.

    Default G Force.

    Hi All,
When 1 owner sold out to Faggs Mitre 10, Geelong, Vic. way back, they had an opening sale.
    I bought a Dremel Type "G Force " $19.95, has never missed a beat.
Mainly used these days for Sharpening my Bandsaw Blades.
I normally date my buys, but in this case I have not done so.
It is quite a few yrs. old.
    Regards,
    issatree.

Maybe I should have bought a battery Dremel, but never having used one I bought a $40 Ozito.

The only thing I have really used it for is cutting grooves in screws, both one way and slotted so that they can be removed.
Apart from breaking some cutting disks when I first started to learn how to use it, it has performed as intended.

Some years ago, I bought a knock-off Dremel clone, the one that comes with the 497 piece kit, flex shaft and all. (Mastercraft, on sale, too).
A little polishing, a little grinding and a whole lot of steel carving with the cutoff wheels.

I carve the 3/4" heads of 8" and 10" spikes ($0.50 each) into branding irons for wood carvings.
Add a nice handle, wire hot rack and heat with a propane bottle torch.

There have been a few other fine jobs where it was the only possible tool to get it done.

I've worn out three Dremels. The first, bought about twenty five years ago lived the longest which I think was German made. The second was made elsewhere, didn't last long and the third given as a gift with a million bits and a router attachment didn't last long either but the box with all the goodies is still in a unpacked moving box somewhere...I hope. I gave them all heaps, probably too much heaps in driving them through hard eucalypts and desert acacias. So I now have a Foredom which is great but I still miss the Dremels' dexterity. Would be good if the Dremel had a quick change bit setup as I often couldn't find the chuck key. Just a tip, don't chuck the Dremel away without getting the jaws out of it as if you're like me and have a Drill press that only takes three millimetre bits and up the Dremel jaws can be used inside the DP chuck to except tiny bits. That goes for worn out cordless drills too but even better still, they have the added benefit of keyless chucks.

    I have a Dremel 3000, Dremel Moto-tool No.2 and an Ozito.

I won the Dremel 3000 in a raffle last year. It did not have a flexible shaft in the the kit so I went to Bunnings to to get a shaft. I ended up buying an Ozito rotary tool kit with shaft for the price of the Dremel shaft. As a bonus, the Ozito flexible shaft fits the Dremel.

I have had the Dremel No.2 since the late 1960's when I was building model cars. It still goes and has had a lot of use over the years. The only fault is it is single speed, flat out.
