    Default Aftermarket Brushcutter Heads

    Hey Guys,
I have a Tradetools (a Qld tool store chain) Brushcutter, it's a magic little machine, I can pull it out after 3 months, it starts 3rd pull & runs like a swiss clock.
Except that like all cheap brushcutters the line head is utter crap, a situation exaserbated by me having limited dexterity in the index & middle fingers on my left hand after a table saw accident.
I'm going to buy thread gauges in the next few days so I can see exactly what the mounting thread is - it looks about 5mm and it's a left handed thread.
Can anyone point me toward a better head this for thing?
Back in Perth I had an old Kawasaki pro spec brushcutter with a manual line feed - loosen the nut and lift the spool against a spring to let out to cord.
Something like if I can get it to fit would be ideal.
    Cheers
    Smidsy

I bought a good quality bump feed head from a local dedicated mower shop. It was a generic and came with about 6 or more threaded adapters. It fitted up a treat. Cost about $50-$70 I think. I had the choice of a cheap $20-$30 or the dearer one, cheers

I have run Universal brand (US) manual feed heads from my former local mower shop for more than 20 years. The actual plastic head assembly mounts to an adaptor that screws onto the BC spindle and is available for various machines and sizes. A chinese rip off from Jonno and Jonno comes with spindle adaptors in a range of sizes for gearbox and bent shaft models. I now use both and are happy with them but make sure that the threads match the spindle.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

I’ve been using the Champ Junior 2 for about ten years. Am very happy with it and buy the profile line as well from them. Got absolutely sick and tired of the bump feed.

I went through a lot of heads on my Kawasaki brushcutter as I had a large rocky slope to maintain over 20 years. The first replacement I bought was a speed feed head that came with a variety of adapters to make it fit any brand of brushcutter. I eventually found the adapters from the first replacement allowed me to fit a Honda head which was cheaper and as far as I could tell better. I then kept on buying new Honda heads as needed.

So no more bump feed head but sure load every time but i am sucked at trimming the lawn edge i went though abit of trim lines on the concrete paths and taking lot of times to do the job.
I then found another great Aussies product to do my lawm edge that is Atom pro edger, i am very happy with it because it takes 5 minutes to the edges on my corner block

Sorry for my duplicate post above, prepared the first and thought I had posted it, sent to work on tea and the draft was still showing on screen as though not saved when I returned, so I saved it again. Found it 25 hrs after the second post so outside my editing time limit so I can't delete it. Apologies.
