There was nothing but weeds and tall grass a few months ago
Been a labour of love building the garden and getting the site clean and tidy

    Beautiful array of flowers Chris.
My dad grew orchids in Brisbane, he even had perfumed ones that would fill the whole house.
You're up in the right area for them for sure, many years ago, my wife & I went to Tinaroo Dam were their was a huge orchid nursery, gorgeous flowers everywhere.
    Cheers Peter

    Glad you like them Peter
Yes Tinaroo is definately the right area for orchids
The forest around Tinaroo abounds in Staghorn/Elkhorn ferns as well as many native orchids
One in particular is called the giant spider orchid
    It is magnificent in flower
I am fortunate to have a few specimens of it and it is actually due to flower soon...will post when it does
Would have loved to have seen your father's collection
They grow well in Brisbane too
Again thanks mate for commenting and sharing your thoughts too...much welcomed

Busy day in the garden today
Planted out another lot of passionfruit vines
Now have around 25 in the ground near fence line
They are growing fast in the red dirt here
Also put 3 Syzydgiums in the ground too
Have a heap more to plant before the wet
Here's a few pics of some Orchids presently in flower
    and some recently planted Bromeliads

Got a few soft cane Dendrobiums in bloom at the moment
The flowers last for weeks and on multiple canes too
Love the fact that new plants (pups) form on the old canes...bonus
    They just keep giving!
Will post a few different ones again tomorrow

Mrs P. has been waiting for an Orchid to bloom for about three years and it finally did but within a day a Sulphur Crested Cocky decide to pull it apart, needless to say she was not impressed.

That's unfortunate to say the least
Sulphur crested cockatoos can be so destructive at times!
They often strip fruit trees with no interest in actually eating any of the fruit...and make a huge mess in the process

Between the cockys and the local deer growing anything around here can be a bit of a challenge.

Only have one 'slipper' orchid and here it is in full boom
Also has another 2 flower stems forming
Love this species...both flower and form are quite unique!
They need constant watering here In the tropics during the 'dry' as they don't have means to store water/energy (lack of pseudo bulbs)
