I may be moving into a new place soon. If so then I'll be able to start building again. I am hoping to know in the next week or two.
    I also posted these images in besslerwheel. The round disc might be what Bessler referred to as his peacock's tail. That might be something people will wonder about for a long time to come. The trick is the retraction line is always 90° to the axis of the disc. It should roll a weight inward as the wheel lifts the weight upward. These are 2 quotes of Bessler's ;
Around the firmly placed horizontal axis is a rotating disc (low or narrow cylinder) which resembles a grindstone. This disc can be called the principle piece of my machine.

Accordingly, this wheel consists of an external wheel (or drum) for raising weights which is covered with stretched linen.

I'd like to apologize for this taking so long and hopefully it will be worth the wait.

I have started on another build. I have also moved into my own place so will be working on it at home. It will be a much simplified design. Next week I should be able to make a lot of progress on it. This weekend I'll start on the stand. I think the only difficult part will be the hoists lifting the top weight. If everything works out then I'll be able to make it into a wheel.

I am keeping the stand as simple as possible. The disc for retracting the weights will be mounted on it. The square is 30 cm's tall to give you an idea of how tall this "wheel" will be. The gap will be about 13.75 cm's to allow for the wheel and the discs. Once I have the discs mounted then it will start showing how it will go together.

I thought I'd let everyone know that I am still working on it. I have been able to work some (at a job) so have been held up some. This weekend I'll be ordering the lead for the weights as well as new bearings. I'll be mounting the bearings in the stand. I have placed bearings in the hub of the wheel before. This usually depends on the width of the hub. And this means the bearings will be mounted inside the grindstone/disc that I believe Bessler called his principle mechanism. And this is the part where I need to get it right. I think after I have the stand and discs with bearings finished everyone will understand this much better. And with the levers and weights, I think that part will go much more quickly. Anyway I hope so.

The pictures are of the fixture for trimming the disc. The last picture will go from 3 o'clock to 6 o'clock to give an idea how it will be on the stand in relation to the wheel. Hopefully Wednesday I'll be able to start on the wheel itself. I'll need that to verify how wide the stand will need to be.
The disc is about 42.5 cm's long and it's small radius is about 30 cm's.
I think once I can have the wheel between discs then everyone will be able to see what I'm doing much better. If you can see the line on the last picture, the axle will be located on that line towards the outside of the disc. There will be some "fitting" to do once it's altogether. And that will be easier to explain when I get to that point.

The circled section is the section that will retract a weight. I am showing the approximate position of the wheel's axle. This means tomorrow I'll get the wood for the "wheel". I might redo the stand after I have the frame of the wheel finished. Then I'll know how large the base of the stand will need to be. What will be telling is when I can show that a line actually retracts using such a disc. I'd have to say the reason that I understand this is because of the amount of work that I've put into it.

This is the basic layout that I am building. I am going to try and use some principles they use in booms (overhead cranes) and bridges for structural support. This means it should go together just fine and be light in weight as well. I may need to make a new stand but what I have now will work.
It does look quite simple, doesn't it ? Bessler did say it was something so simple that a child could build it.
The odd shaped piece will be secured to the stand and will not rotate.

Some f the science behind the design is being discussed in this thread. In it I am John.Smith.

In Besslerwheel . com, I would say there are those who do not want to see Bessler's wheel realized. It would hurt some long standing members credibility.

A couple of pictures of the frame. While it's coming along slowly am glad that I am getting some work done. And while in some ways it might resemble a cross that's okay. Without a rim I am not sure how stable (staying centered) the 4 arms will be.

    This is one person who is supposed to have witnessed Bessler's wheel in operation 1st hand. John Collins who researched and wrote a couple of books about Bessler and his wheel has done a lot to make bessler's work known and a lot of what I am referencing is based on his work which is the source of this quote;
This is his accounting of Bessler's wheel. It's the 2nd witness statement.
    Gottfried Leibniz (1646 - 1716)
    Mathematician and Philosopher
Viewed the one-directional wheel in 1714
"Orffyreus is a friend of mine, and he allowed me, some time ago, to carry out some experiments with his machine. It ran continuously for two hours in my presence and demonstrated considerable power. There is something extraordinary about Orffyreus' machine and we must not ignore it, because it could bring tremendous benefits."

Johann Bessler - Orffyreus - Eyewitness Accounts

    His wikipedia page; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gottfried_Wilhelm_Leibniz

And since I happen to like science, etc. do think Leibniz is a highly credible witness.
I am also hoping within the next 2 weeks to be able to show how the retraction disc works. @ besslerwheel . com
it might be that a simulation can be done. Some people in that forum are very good with such things.

I thought I'd show everyone where I'm at right now. This weekend I'll be seeing about having the frame on the stand. I think this is the most critical part because the rotation of the wheel will need to be "square" or 90° to the axle and the 2 retraction discs. The first picture is what I built a couple of years ago. With that build the weight's drop was limited and the imbalance created was minimal. There were only 2 opposing weights.
This was a basic conservation of angular momentum example. The imbalance now will be much greater and there will be 2 levers lifting a weight upwards. Learning this has been a slow process. And I think everyone will see how when I had a shop to work with the build did look much nicer.

This picture shows where I'm at with my build. I am going to need to modify the stand. I have roller bearings mounted inside the elliptically shaped parts. What someone mentioned in another forum is that ramps offer to much friction (resistance) to motion. An example is Bessler's own drawing courtesy of John Collins. back around 2005 I resolved this problem in a German owned forum. And this is why I believe the disc that Bessler mentioned will allow for a wheel to work.
And since I was in the Navy will need to be steady as she goes

    Did Bessler have roller bearings

I may finish this project offline. As far as bearings go I think Bessler invented a bearing. This is a quote from Bessler's writing and am giving credit to John Collins for researching Bessler and writing a book(s) about him.

All things belong to one of three kingdoms and you have the evidence before you.
Without such things as sulfur, salt, and mercury, all things will come to a standstill.

not sure if I am allowed to supply a link to this writing of Bessler's. This is close to amalgam (
    CHEMISTRY
an alloy of mercury with another metal, especially one used for dental fillings.)
or what is commonly known as silver fillings.
If it works (hardens) the same way then polished they might allow for something like babbitt which is used in today's bearings for such things as crankshafts in motors or industrial shafts for turbines or for a ship's propulsion.

    Neil,
He has told me what he wants. Of course President Trump has said he is going to make America great again. And no one will say NO to us. Are you looking forward to that ? I am. We've got the power. It's good to be an American man )
