Default 80's Leda KS-12L Table Saw

Hi all, I have a Leda Table Saw that I am putting back together, it has been in bits for a long time (by previous owner) it is a tilting arbor and comes with a splitter.

Question 1 Does anyone have photo's of the way the splitter attaches to the cabinet (both inside and out) I may be missing some parts, I have the 2 cast brackets etc but not sure how it attaches, it looks to be on a stepped bolt (missing) that goes through to the outside of the cabinet.

Question 2 Has anyone successfully made a riving knife for one of these? The plate seems too short to get anything meaningful between the blade and the end of the recess in my opinion but I am sure there are greater minds than mine out there!

Any help would be appreciated even though I am not sure she quite qualifies as "vintage"

    Michael

I haven't seen these innards done as a cabinet saw before. I guess it's a cabinet saw not a hybrid? I would think it's probably a 90's build. In answer to your questions:
    1. Yes there is a steel rod that is mounted into the rear saw carriage casting. I wouldn't worry too much about it, most of us seem to take the splitter off anyway on account of it being a complete PITA. A dog of a thing to adjust and has to be removed any time you want to do a cut that isn't full depth. Many of us do what Fuzzie (thanks Fuzzie, saved me taking a picture of my own ) has done in the attached pic.
    2. Other than as mentioned above I've never seen anyone who has successfully fitted a riving knife/splitter behind the blade on this type of saw. Any who have tried have had endless problems with the stability and alignment of their fitment.

Do you have the blade insert plate? What power is the motor? The standard fence, assuming yours is similar to ones I'm familiar with, is another pretty dodgy component on these saws. None of them seem to lock down well at the back and there isn't sufficient rigidity in the fence/front lock down mechanism to maintain parallelism with the blade. This can possibly be fixed with an appropriate aluminium extrusion and a rework of the attachment to the front mechanism, I just bought an Incra.

Hi Ronnie, no I haven't done anything to mine as yet apart from getting it going. I went off on a Covid tangent and built a new shed so almost finished then back to machinery lol. There were a few good tips by others in this thread and I will probably explore Gazza58's response about "shark guards" won't be long now I hope. By the way check your PM's I tried to reply to you via that but it said your inbox was full so you may want to clear it out.
Chat soon and sorry I wasn't a bigger help to you.

    Default 80's Leda saw

    Hi Miki,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have cleared my PM box - didn't realise you could have so few in here!
Do you have any pics of the two cast brackets you have?
Checked out the shark guards, but still need to fabricate something to fit, unless I fabricate on overarm to hold the guard.
    Cheers,
    Ron

    Hi Miki,
I have fabricated an arm to hold the splitter & guard. Had a couple of trial runs & seems to work.
