    Default Antique Shearing Grinder

I inherited this Lister shearing cutter and comb grinder from a family member who was a sheep grazier many years ago.
It would have to be very early 1900's I would think and probably is quite valuable to a collector.
I contemplated setting it up as a belt sander for woodwork but my benchtop model is still working OK.
Anyway I was wondering if anybody can help with where I could get a valuation. Possibly from photos online.
    Will attach some photos.
    Cheers, Fred

I have a disc for sharpening the combs on a hand piece.
My father was a fitter and turner who worked for Buzzacots prewar.
    They had the Wolseley gear.
He’d go out to properties and rig up the stationary engines and line shafting in the sheds.
What was the linisher you have used for?

    Hi H,

    Thank you for your reply.
My brother had a sheep grazing property out west of Cunnamulla in the early 1960's and used this in the beginning for his shearing combs and cutters.

    Hi Fred,
My father was a shearer and I worked in a few shearing sheds in my youth and can say I never saw this style of comb and cutter grinder before. I checked with a mate of mine, his brother, a retired shearer, has one or two in his collection and he's going to talk to him about it.
    I've sent you a PM.

    Cheers,
    Geoff.

That is awesome! I have way too many 'sanding' tools than I need but would be very tempted to add something like this to my collection! Would be a great little project to do a full restore.

    Hi Fred,
I've just got off the phone with my friend. His brother says this grinder came out in the early 1960's and generally sell for around the $100 mark.

    Cheers,
    Geoff.
