Thread: Delta Rockwell 6" x 48" Sander

Picked up this dilapidated Delta Rockwell sander off market place for a reasonable price.

The electrics were a mess and there was a fair amount of surface corrosion. When i got it apart i discovered that one of the leads had been rubbing on the motor shaft and it had worn into the lead exposing the conductors..... Not to mention the cable itself was perished and cracked. The seller had put a new plug on it though... It also appears to have come via South Africa from America as the motor is of South African manufacture as was the vee belt.

I replaced all the bearings and the electrical wiring and removed the rust and repainted it. It came up quite well, has plenty of power with the 1.5 HP motor.

It will be handy for a upcoming rebuild of the cab for my 1934 Fargo Truck.
