Durden pacemaker spindle threads
Hi,
I just got a Durden Pacemaker SP 10-600, which I am trying to get back into working conditions.
The threads on both end of the spindle, for the boring tools (right end side) and the moulding tools (left end side which is a left hand thread), need to be redone. Does anyone knows what are these threads, so I can get the necessary die and taps to redo them and make some bolts as well? I have been looking for the information in the manual but could not find it.
Cheers

I will have a look tomorrow if I have the right thread gauge I will measure it, the alternative would be to replace the spindle with a good used one. ($50 pick up)

Thanks a lot China, I greatly appreciate.
Having some information about the threads would allow me to make some bolts and face plates as well (which I don't have) which will be invaluable. Getting a new spindle is probably more difficult unless you know where to find spare parts.

I have a spindle in the machine I am wrecking that is what the $50 pick up is about, the nut is tapered to close the collet it appears to be 3/4 I don't know the TPI I will find my other thread gauge tomorrow and see if that has a compatible thread
as for spare parts there are none they ceased production 30 odd years ago.

Thanks again China,
I think a colleague from work and I have figured it out thanks to you. The right end side (boring tool) is 3/4 16 UNF and the left end side (moulding tool) is 9/16 18 UNF left hand. I don't think I need to replace the spindle I have, just cleaning the threads and getting new bolts for the left hand thread and the tapered nut that I can redo at work. Thanks a lot for the offer.
Just out of curiosity, is there anything else that can be salvage from the machine you are wrecking? I am missing few bits and pieces on mine. For example, the bar that hold the fence.
Cheers

Alright, do you want me to drop by your place and have a look at it? I'm definitely interested by the fence bar and whatever other spare/attachement you might have. Saturday is pretty booked out already for me but tomorrow or Monday are fine for me. Whereabout are you located?
Cheers,

Me too
Have one of these as well. The table is kinda strange. Not Shure if it's for mortices or what? But have that side table. The thread of the shaft would be good to know -Can then experiment.
